HFL’s 2017 Grant Cycle is Now Closed

How much funding will the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte grant this year?

HFL has budgeted a maximum of $3.5 million for grants in 2017. This amount is contingent upon the proposals received.

How does the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte accept proposals?

HFL only accepts applications through our Grant Portal (please see the Get Started section below) during open applications. Applications sent by any other means will not be reviewed.

What is the process for Strategic Grants (Healthy Living, Healthy Children and Healthy Minds) that are up to $25,000

Organizations applying for less than $25,001 will go straight to the grant application. Once you have entered the Grant Portal, click on “2017 Strategic Focus Grants up to $25,000” to begin your application.

What is the process for Strategic Grants (Healthy Living, Healthy Children and Healthy Minds) that are over $25,001?

  • Proposals for $25,001 or more must must begin with a Letter of Intent (LOI). Once you have entered the Grant Portal, click on “2017 Strategic Focus Grants over $25,001” to begin your LOI.
  • Once HFL has reviewed and approved your LOI, you will be invited to complete a full grant application.
  • An invitation to submit a proposal does not guarantee funding.

What is the process for Responsive Grants (Healthy La Porte)?

  • Responsive Grants awards do not have a set minimum and the maximum request is $25,000.
  • Proposed programs attend health and wellness needs not within the specific Strategic Focus Areas: Healthy Living, Healthy Children, Healthy Minds.
  • Once you have entered the Grant Portal, click on “2017 Responsive Grants up to $25,000” to begin your application.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be considered for an award:

  • The proposed supported program must directly serve or support residents who reside within the City of La Porte and surrounding areas.
  • The proposed program will impact and improve health and wellness.

Priority will be given to proposals that:

  • Encourage collaboration between community organizations.
  • Use evidence-based practices.

HFL Will Not Fund:

  • Underwriting for an organization’s annual appeals/solicitations, special events or general fundraising.
  • Organizations who discriminate in any way based on participation or membership in a specific religious faith, race, gender, citizenship status, sexual orientation, age or disability.
  • Faith based organizations will be considered for grants so long as the grant proceeds are used for programs offered by such organization that are offered to individuals regardless of their religious affiliation, race, gender, citizenship status, sexual orientation, age or disability.
  • Endowments.
  • Lobbying or the support of any political candidate, political party or political activity.
