How We Support the Community Now
Living Healthy, Living Well…
HFL recognizes the invaluable role that the former La Porte Hospital Foundation’s signature programs and events play in our community. HFL continues to maintain the following signature programs in 2017!
Some of the signature programs that will continue include:
Building Healthy Habits
The Lil’ F.I.S.H.TM Club (Feel Important…Stay Healthy) was established in 2000 to educate elementary school students about the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices. The program reaches over 1,200 fourth grade students each month in La Porte and Starke Counties. In 2016, Lil’ F.I.S.H. was extended to include 800 second grade students three times each school year.
Next Generation of Care Providers
We desire to foster, improve and maintain an impressive healthcare landscape in La Porte by providing scholarships to individuals who are pursuing a degree or training in healthcare-related fields. The goal of this scholarship program is to help support the education of individuals who will hopefully one day use those skills to practice healthcare in and around the La Porte community. Applications will be available in March 31 – May 7, 2017.
Get Active, Get Fit
Physical activity and fitness can benefit both health and academic performance for children. Get Active, Get Fit encourages children and their families to spend time being active! Learn more about this program and submit entries for prize drawings here.
